Why is it so difficult?

Food fuels the body with the energy it needs to function properly. Food is essential to life, and a well-nourished person on a proper and healthy diet who exercises regularly, is more likely to be mentally and physically fit. So why is it so difficult to achieve and maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle? Part of the problem is that we need to eat to survive, but it's much more complicated than that. Food feeds and stimulates our taste buds, our emotions, and our physical hunger. This makes eating food very difficult to control. Food can therefore be considered a necessary evil in that we need it and want it, but it can be also hazardous to our health. Unlike other addictions that we can stop entirely, we must eat in order to survive. As a result, eating disorders including obesity, anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating, are becoming increasingly more common.

Maintaining a balanced, nutritious and healthy diet or program can be extremely challenging, but it is achievable with the right approach and attitude. You must be mindful of the things you that put into your body. Proper nutrition is key to leading a healthy lifestyle, and it is vital for you to reach your health and fitness goals. It is challenging, but try to minimize or remove all emotional thoughts when choosing foods to eat. You can try to make food tasty, but food is simply fuel for the body, and not the answer to all of your problems. This is a challenging but doable concept.

The Administration on Aging is the Federal focal point and advocate agency for older persons and their concerns. In this role, the Administration on Aging works to heighten awareness among other Federal agencies, organizations, groups, and the public about the valuable contributions that older Americans make to the nation. The Administration also alerts others to the needs of vulnerable older people. Through information, referral and outreach efforts at the community level, the Administration seeks to educate older people and their caregivers about the benefits and services available to help them.

In summertime, there’s more barbecues, pool parties and trips to the beach, more outings to night spots and theme parks. There’ll be more coolers filled with beer and quiet moments on the beach or in parks when a private toke might go unnoticed. While this is a great time to enjoy the company of your friends and family, some people who have been trying to stay clean and sober may find too many opportunities to relapse. It may take a little more work than usual to maintain sobriety when presented with temptation every time you turn around.
